Looking around in the darkness, I managed to spot a short cylindrical object on the floor several feet away. I squinted and gasped when I realized that it looked to be a jagged piece of broken pipe! I silently thanked whichever construction crew hadn’t bothered cleaning up after themselves. Despite being bound and gagged, I managed to drag myself across the hardwood floor toward the pipe piece.
